Technical Information

IVIS 100

IVIS 100 whole animal imaging system has both fluorescence and bioluminescence modes for in vivo imaging of anesthesized mice and rats.

Illumination source

XFO-6 (Dolan-Jenner Fiber-Lite PL-900 Illuminator; quartz halogen lamp) for fluorescent imaging. LED illumination for photographic imaging.

Fluorescence filters

Filter Excitation passband (nm) Emission passband (nm)
GFP 445-490 515-575
GFP background 410-440 515-575
Ds Red 500-550 575-650
Cy 5.5 615-665 695-770
ICG 710-760 810-875

Camera

EEV back-illuminated, back-thinned CCD camera, operating temperature -90 degrees Centigrade. The imaging platform has adjustable height for different fields of view (FOV) with four preset levels. At the widest FOV up to five mice can be imaged at the same time.

Gas anesthesia system

The isoflurane inhalation anesthesia system allows maintenance of anesthesia of up to five mice in the imaging chamber during imaging. There is a separate chamber for inducing anesthesia prior to imaging.

Software

Living Image 3.1. The new version is independent of Igor Pro and uses the same file system as previously. The software is also available on our Imaging Workstations.

Accessories

The gas anesthesia manifold has optional light baffles that can be used to reduce light pollution from adjacent animals.

Caliper Cell lines

Caliper offers Bioware® cell lines for use with the IVIS.

Instrument Use

IVIS is available for independent use after a mandatory two-hour training session. If you would like to start using IVIS, please contact BIU staff. Both the training session and subsequent instrument use is subject for billing based on the reservations in Scheduler (online reservation system). For the training session and user fees, click here.

All registered IVIS users are automatically added to the IVIS users mailing list. Please read those e-mails to know what's going on!

General instrument policies: All instrument reservations are online. You must be a registered user in order to make reservations (see Reservations for instructions). Instrument hours will be billed according to the reservations made. Thus, make sure to reserve only the minimum time required. Reservations must be cancelled two hours prior to the reserved time.
