Technical Information

Objectives

Olympus 10x, NA=0.3
Olympus 20x, NA=0.4 (with correction collar for plate bottom thickness)

There is only one objective available at a time. You will need to change the objective manually if the objective you need is not currently in the system. Please contact BIU staff for instructions before attempting this for the first time!

Filters

The system is equipped with four excitation LED's and a quad dichroic/emitter filterset.

The dichroic/emitter cube is the Semrock Brighline QUAD Pinkel set.

Camera

High-resolution, thermoelectrically cooled, digital camera with 12-bit dynamic range.

Robot

Orbitor RS Microplate Mover.

Barcode printer

BIU and High Throughput Center have a shared Brady barcode printer for making barcodes for the 96- or 384-well plates. Use of barcodes is recommended by BIU for high-content screening.

Well plate format

Any multiwell format from 6-well plate up to 384-well plate. Thermo Scientific recommends Perkin-Elmer 96-well ViewPlates (black frame with clear bottom), cat. no 6005182, as well as Nunc 384-well plates. You can also purchase ViewPlates from BIU, we sell them on single plate basis, whereas PE has a minimum order size of 50.

The bioapplications are available on both the instrumetin workstation (for simultaneous analysis) and the Imaging workstation 2 (for disk-based scanning).

Additional software tools

Second Cellomics Discovery Toolbox is in the Imaging Workstation 2. The software includes CellSpace data mining tool. In the same computer, there is Spotfire DecisionSite 8.2 software that is meant for advanced data analysis. For more information, see Imaging Workstation 2 web page.
